Nowadays, schools across Indonesia have been transforming their approach to education by adopting the ‘Kurikulum Merdeka’. This progressive curriculum is designed to give students more autonomy over their learning journey, encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and personal development. Schools implementing ‘Kurikulum Merdeka’ have launched various programs aimed at aligning with its principles, offering a wide range of activities and courses tailored to students' individual interests and talents. These programs not only promote academic growth but also nurture essential life skills, preparing students to thrive in an ever-evolving world.
As one of the schools which implements ‘Kurikulum Merdeka’, Xaverius 2 Junior High School offers some programs in supporting the implementation of it in 2024. The programs are Asam Basa, Tapis Berseri, Sakai Sambayan, and Sai Wawai. Sai Wawai, is an activity that focuses on always having something colorful in Xavier 2 Junior High School. Of Course, this can be interpreted as actually always having something colorful in the school, but also can be interpreted as the talents of the students that bring color to the school.
What does bring color mean? Each individual brings a unique set of talents, skills, and characteristics that enrich the classroom environment. Whether it's a natural gift for art, music, sports, or problem-solving, every student contributes in their own special way. These diverse abilities create a vibrant learning atmosphere, where differences are celebrated, and students can learn from one another. The combination of unique strengths and perspectives helps foster creativity, collaboration, and a deeper understanding of the world. Together, these talents and traits make the school not just a place of education, but a community full of color and diversity.
This concept made us determine the theme of our class Sai Wawai video. We share our unique set of talent, skills, and characteristics. Our skill in playing musical instruments, dancing, drawing, coloring, painting, playing football or soccer, playing basketball, playing volleyball, and playing games. We don’t mean to be arrogant, show off, or get validation. More than that, we want to share you all that showcasing the diverse talents, skills, and unique qualities of each student is essential to fostering a supportive and collaborative learning environment.
In our class, this diversity is embraced as students complement one another, bringing out the best in their peers. By highlighting their individual strengths, our class demonstrates that the students are not only talented but also capable of working together to achieve more. This approach reflects the high quality of education at SMP Xaverius 2 Bandar Lampung, where each student's potential is nurtured, and their abilities contribute to the overall excellence of the school community.
